It is one of the most explendid natural tourist attractions of Mauritius ,Trou aux Cerfs also known as the dormant volcano located about 1 kilometer from the town of Curepipe. The inactive volcanic crater is about 605 meters above sea level, a depth of around 100 meters.
Different from other volcanic features, the crater is encircled by a vast area of flourishing forest consisting of native plant species and some giant green pine trees and there is a lake in the middle of the crater.
Ganga Talao (commonly known as Grand Bassin) is a crater lake situated in a secluded mountain area in the district of Savanne, deep in the heart of Mauritius. It is about 550 m (1,800 ft) above sea level. The first group of pilgrims who went to Ganga Talao were from the village of Triolet and it was led by Pandit Giri Gossayne from Terre Rouge in 1898.
It is considered the most sacred Hindu place in Mauritius.
Mauritian tea is known to be cultivated while respecting the environment, free of pesticides. The annual collection of tea leaves is 6732 tons which are grown on 574 hectares with 1295 tons of tea produced.
The Black River Gorges is the largest national park in Mauritius. Famous for its waterfalls, vistas and hiking, the gorge is in the central highlands, making it cooler than much of the island. The “Black River Gorges” National park is a national park in the hilly south-western part of Mauritius.
Chamarel is a village in Mauritius located in Rivière Noire District, the eastern part of the village also lies in the Savanne District. The village is administered by the Chamarel Village Council under the aegis of the Rivière Noire District Council.
